Any tricks or words they knew?

The vacuum cleaner, and any member of the family raising their voice even in fun. She would try to get between them.
Was there anything they really disliked?

Out at six, a long morning of herding whatever would be herded, an afternoon of pretending to rest while watching everything, then the evening ball session that was non-negotiable.
Did you have a little ritual together?

She brought me something, a shoe, a cushion, once the TV remote, because arriving empty-handed was apparently beneath her.
How did they greet you when you came home?

At the top of the stairs, where she could keep one eye on every bedroom door at the same time.
Where did they love to sleep or curl up?

She counted. If one of the three children left the yard she would stand at the gate and stare until they came back, and she was never once wrong about who was missing.
What were their funny habits or quirks?

She was the only pup in the litter who sat quietly and watched the others instead of joining in. The breeder said the watchful ones are always a handful. He was right.
